Deborah Peart Crayton

Dr. Deborah Peart Crayton is the founder and Queen Mather of My Mathematical Mind and the Curriculum Strategy Director, Mathematics at Imagine Learning. She is the author of Readers Read. Writers Write. Mathers Math!: Bridging the Gap between Literacy and Mathematics. Deborah advocates a mindful approach to teaching mathematics, aiming to address math anxiety, build confidence, and foster positive math identities. Deborah coined the term "mather" - a person who uses mathematics to make sense of the world, and launched the #MatherMovement to raise awareness about the importance of making mathematics accessible to all and to disrupt the idea that math is optional. She believes all children deserve high-quality instruction, joyful learning experiences, and the opportunity to become competent and confident readers, writers, and mathers.
