Call for Speaker Proposals

This year, the Indiana Conference of Teachers of Mathematics is focused on celebrating and acknowledging the many paths taken in the ONE world of MATH! We all know that mathematics belongs to EVERYONE and we want to support the teaching and learning of mathematics by spreading this message. Strands include (but are not limited to):

• Leadership and Professional Learning: Coaching, PLCs, school improvement, teacher leadership, implementation, and professional development.

• Curriculum and Course Design: Standards alignment, curriculum development, pacing, task selection, course pathways, and instructional resources.

• Effective Instructional Practices: Classroom routines, discourse, collaboration, questioning, problem-solving, and student-centered instruction.

• Conceptual Understanding and Mathematical Reasoning:  Number sense, representations, connections, proof, reasoning, productive struggle, and procedural fluency built from understanding.

• Belonging, Identity, and Access: Math identity, equity, inclusion, culturally responsive teaching, multilingual learners, special education, and reducing math anxiety.

• Assessment, Feedback, and Grading: Formative assessment, standards-based or mastery grading, feedback, data use, common assessments, and student reflection.

• Engagement, Intervention, and Student Support: Curiosity, games, creative mathematics, student agency, perseverance, relevance, and making mathematics enjoyable.

• Technology, AI, and Real-World Applications: Educational technology, artificial intelligence, calculators, Desmos, GeoGebra, virtual learning, and responsible technology use.

Deadline for Proposals: December 4, 2026

We welcome a diverse set of speakers with the goal of enriching the experience of conference attendees. Proposals should focus on the presenters' work and not offer any endorsements to specific products or services available on the market or for a fee. Commercial organizations need to register as an exhibitor.

You will be asked for the following information:

• Session Title: 15 words or less

• Session Description for Attendees: short, attendee-facing description (50-75 words)
• Proposal Description: a slightly longer explanation for reviewers that addresses what participants will experience and learn and includes 2-3 learning outcomes (250 words)
  
• Strand Connection: choose the strand your session connects to most

• Audience for Your Presentation: who your session will connect with most

• Presenter Information: Short Bio (50-100 words)

• Co-presenters Information: List of co-presenters, their emails, their titles, and their institutional affiliation. (will have to register at full price)

We will provide free WiFi at the school, a classroom to present, a screen, and an LCD projector. 

Presenters need to bring their own laptop, as well as an adapter for the projector if needed.

The lead presenter of each accepted proposal will receive registration for the conference at no cost.

Vendors wishing to present must register as vendors or sponsors.
